Hand-flown descent under 1.62 m/s². Throttleable engine, reaction-control attitude, finite propellant. Six sites, no second chances.
The full mission runs pad to surface in one flight: Saturn V ascent to a parking orbit, trans-lunar injection and the coast, then the landing.
Mouse-drag works in every view and in every phase. Views that orbit the vehicle swing around it; fixed and mounted views — the pad cameras and the cockpit — pan their look instead. Switching camera resets the swing.
Thrust comes out of the top of the lander, so leaning is how you steer — and S is the brake. Lean back with S while holding Space to kill forward drift; A and D push you left and right.
Attitude hold caps the lean at 45° and flies you back upright the moment you release the key, so you cannot flip over. The order that works: kill the drift first, high up, then get over the pad, then bring the descent rate under the gear limit. Arriving fast and sideways is what breaks the vehicle. The amber needle on the DRIFT dial is the direction you are sliding — lean the opposite way until it centres.
Both burns are graded on ΔV: hold the engine until the gauge is between the two gates, then cut off with I. Overburning is as bad as underburning. Time warp cancels itself as the band approaches, so you will not blow through it.
Hold the pitch needle on the commanded mark — that is the gravity turn. Through max-Q around 13 km, throttle back so dynamic pressure stays off the red; large angle of attack in thick air will break the vehicle. Stage as soon as a tank runs dry. In the upper stages, flatten out and build horizontal speed — altitude alone is not orbit. Cut off with I when altitude, horizontal velocity and flight path angle are all inside the insertion window.
